Book Announcement: Mantras and Affirmations Coloring Book for Activists and Allies

As you know, I’m working on a small handful of books and other projects which are all stumbling slowly towards completion.  The projects I’ve been talking about are pretty long term things, deep dives into philosophy and spirituality on a personal level which don’t lend themselves well to deadlines.  And that’s fine with me.  Those projects are deeply personal (though potentially beneficial to a wider audience) and I don’t feel a sense of urgency in getting to the “end” of them.

The fact that I’ve been concentrating on those projects may make me seem to be a thinker more than a doer, more spiritual than active, which is actually pretty far from the case most of the time.  To be honest, recent events have pushed me into activist mode.  This feels to me like a moment in history where it is my duty as a human being to stand up and get loud and resist.

And I know I’m not alone.

In the last few months of 2016, I struggled a bit to figure out exactly what I had to offer the world and what my place should be in the larger movement for justice and equality and human rights.  I want to do so much, but I only have so much time, energy, and money with which to do anything.  But one thing I can do, one thing I feel strongly about, is contributing to the dialog regarding how to be good allies and how to do the most good.  It’s all too easy to get caught up in our own contributions, our own goals and successes, and to inadvertently act in ways which are counter to our stated goals.  It’s as important to be mindful about our action as it is to act.

As 2016 drew to a close I decided that I wanted to do something concrete and tangible to contribute positively as a new wave of activists and revolutionaries fight for humanity in the coming years.  So I created a coloring book of phrases intended to turn the act of coloring into a focused meditative activity.  I chose each mantra or affirmation to be a jumping off point for deeper consideration to help positively shape an activist mindset.

The coloring book is now available on and soon to be available on Amazon as well.
